Carolina Herrera 212 VIP Rose Red is a vaporous red rose, steamed and spiced, with metallic aspects, and a fruit note that is unusual. Red is indeed how my brain processed this scent. It has something evocative of red peppers and rhubarb — a tingling sensation of hot spices with a counterbalance of something fresh and even watery.

The notes list tomato as one of the notes, and even though that note is not identifiable in the fragrance, there is something of a red legume, indeed, and it's juicy too. Something in this fragrance reminds me of the feeling I get from Odeur 71, even though I couldn't say they are similar.

But they share the feeling of being a novelty. Only Herrera's offering is less serious and more fun. Top notes are Liquor, Tomato, and Raspberry; middle notes are Tiramisu, Spices, and Bulgarian Rose; base notes are Patchouli, Musk, and Woody Notes.
